{"id":581,"date":"2019-11-18T14:58:07","date_gmt":"2019-11-18T14:58:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/alisonstenning\/?p=581"},"modified":"2019-11-18T14:58:09","modified_gmt":"2019-11-18T14:58:09","slug":"teaching-and-learning-emotional-geographies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/alisonstenning\/teaching-and-learning-emotional-geographies\/","title":{"rendered":"Teaching and Learning Emotional Geographies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Following a successful and engaging session at the RGS-IBG\nconference earlier this year on Teaching and Learning Emotional Geographies (<a href=\"http:\/\/conference.rgs.org\/AC2019\/303\">http:\/\/conference.rgs.org\/AC2019\/303<\/a>), we\nare putting together a proposal for a special\nissue of <em>Journal of Geography in Higher\nEducation<\/em> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/toc\/cjgh20\/current\">https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/toc\/cjgh20\/current<\/a>). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are looking for a few more papers for the proposal, focused on\nsimilar themes to those explored during the conference session, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Emotional geographies as a specialised module\/course<\/li><li>Embedding emotions in the wider geographical curriculum<\/li><li>Ways to engage with emotions in teaching and learning and\ninnovative teaching practices<\/li><li>Teaching emotional geographies through relationships and\n(self-)reflexivity<\/li><li>Ethics of teaching emotional geographies<\/li><li>Supervision of student projects on emotional geographies<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We\nalready have proposed papers exploring these issues in a range of undergraduate\/postgraduate\nand UK\/international contexts, and would welcome contributions that would add to\nthis diversity of experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If our proposal is successful, the papers should be 5,000-6,000\nwords in length and we will be looking for contributions to be submitted around\nthe middle of 2020, although this can be negotiated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For\nnow, if you are interested in contributing to the proposed special issue,\nplease send your title, abstract (max 250 words), name, affiliation and email\ncontact to Matej Blazek (<a href=\"mailto:matej.blazek@ncl.ac.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">matej.blazek@ncl.ac.uk<\/a>) and Alison Stenning\n(<a href=\"mailto:alison.stenning@ncl.ac.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">alison.stenning@ncl.ac.uk<\/a>) by Wednesday\nDecember 11<sup>th<\/sup> 2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Following a successful and engaging session at the RGS-IBG conference earlier this year on Teaching and Learning Emotional Geographies (http:\/\/conference.rgs.org\/AC2019\/303), we are putting together a proposal for a special issue of Journal of Geography in Higher Education (https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/toc\/cjgh20\/current).
