Such concerns have been accentuated following the global financial crisis, economic downturn and recession, state austerity and fiscal consolidation and the expected role of infrastructure as a generator of economic recovery as well as financial savings. The research aims to better understand and explain the models, valuation, roles and processes of private sector investment in public infrastructure in an international comparative context.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Value of the Award and Eligibility<\/strong><br \/>\nA full award covers tuition fees at the UK\/EU RCUK rate and an annual stipend of \u00a313,726 for up to three and a half years. Applicants must meet the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epsrc.ac.uk\/skills\/students\/help\/Pages\/eligibility.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">EPSRC\u2019s eligibility criteria<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Person Specification<\/strong><br \/>\nTo apply you must have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>achieved or be undertaking an MA\/MSc programme in a relevant area<\/li>\n<li>knowledge and experience of public and private sector finance, investment institutions, economic development and regeneration policy and institutions, and public infrastructure funding<\/li>\n<li>commitment and knowledge of working on a multi-disciplinary research project and quantitative and qualitative methodologies and analyses<\/li>\n<li>commitment and willingness to undertake a PhD studentship research project and work collaboratively within the <a href=\"http:\/\/research.ncl.ac.uk\/ibuild\/\" target=\"_blank\">iBUILD research centre<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><br \/>\nYou must apply through the University\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/postgraduate\/apply\/form\/\" target=\"_blank\">online postgraduate application<\/a> form selecting \u2018PhD School of Geography, Politics and Sociology \u2013 Geography\u2019 as the programme of study.
