Computing Science Website Update for February 2014

Web links for prospective students:

We have re-located the Virtual Tours videos and ‘information about Newcastle’ web pages from the ‘About Section’ of the website to the ‘Study With Us’ section so that new students can easily find out more about the School, campus and Newcastle.

The new link for the Virtual Tours videos can be found here, and the link for information about Newcastle can be found here.

We are currently having all archive PhD theses (from 1966 to 2012) digitally scanned and will be linked on our website soon via the library eTheses service. We will update you when the scanning is complete.

We have also located most of the few remaining missing Technical Reports and hope to have these scanned and placed online soon, to complete the listings of full text Technical Reports (from 1969 to present).

REF 2014:

There is a new webpage about The Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014 for Computing Science with links to associated documents for 2014 and 2008.

External links from the School website:

All external links listed within the School website (e.g. to careers, student services and Research Centres) now have a small icon next to the link to indicate to users browsing the School website that they are about the leave the website if they click on the link.  This will hopefully improve navigation across the website and help inform users which webpages are located within the School and which pages are not. For example, see our Research Centres webpage.

Internal staff pages:

We are currently setting up a new section within the internal staff pages for inputting information to the School database, which will include:

  • Forms for assigning staff/PhD students to mailing lists, assigning roles etc.
  • Forms for adding telephone and room numbers.
  • Forms for inputting PhD, MPhil and MSc theses abstracts and titles.

The forms for submitting data to the School database will be added soon.
