{"id":1,"date":"2020-06-04T11:40:28","date_gmt":"2020-06-04T10:40:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/congenitalhearts\/?p=1"},"modified":"2021-01-18T09:46:01","modified_gmt":"2021-01-18T09:46:01","slug":"hello-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/congenitalhearts\/2020\/06\/04\/hello-world\/","title":{"rendered":"Hello, Hello &#8211; Its Good to be Back!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>from Newcastle University Congenital Heart Disease Group<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/medical-sciences\/\">Faculty of Medical Sciences<\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\">Newcastle University<\/a> was completely reorganised in 2019. We reduced our number of institutes from six to three: the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/medical-sciences\/research\/institutes\/biosciences\/\">Biosciences<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/medical-sciences\/research\/institutes\/translational\/\">Translational and Clinical Research<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/medical-sciences\/research\/institutes\/health-sciences\/\">Population Health Sciences<\/a>&nbsp;Institutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of this restructuring the old research centres, including the Cardiovascular Research Centre, were dissolved. In their place are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/medical-sciences\/research\/research-themes\/\">Themes<\/a> that cut across all three Institutes and are focussed on the future direction of academic research in our University.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We, congenital heart&nbsp;researchers, have taken the opportunity to make new connections with others in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/medical-sciences\/research\/research-themes\/reproduction\/\">Reproduction, Development and Child Health&nbsp;<\/a>(RDCH) Theme. We remain closely linked, but distinct from our colleagues in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/medical-sciences\/research\/research-themes\/vascular\/\">Vascular Biology and Medicine (VBM) Theme<\/a> and some colleagues have joint affiliation. Congenital heart clinicians in Newcastle hospitals, who are active in research, are affiliated to the Congenital Heart Disease research group and the RDCH Theme. We are also part of a wider community through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.networks.nhs.uk\/nhs-networks\/north-east-north-cumbria-congenital-heart-disease?fbclid=IwAR2hkPuIjAg-dML2Z8ca0J_FkLEyy9YQoauQAeOio34zl1xPA4N0X0LfypI\">North East and North Cumbria Congenital Heart Disease Network<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On these web pages, we will post information about our research, our meetings and&nbsp;list contact details about our members.
