{"id":131,"date":"2021-03-02T09:18:29","date_gmt":"2021-03-02T09:18:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/congenitalhearts\/?p=131"},"modified":"2021-03-02T09:26:26","modified_gmt":"2021-03-02T09:26:26","slug":"supporting-hearts-supporting-lives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/congenitalhearts\/2021\/03\/02\/supporting-hearts-supporting-lives\/","title":{"rendered":"Supporting hearts, supporting lives."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Children requiring mechanical support for heart failure are usually committed to staying within an intensive care unit or hospital ward. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newcastle-hospitals.nhs.uk\/consultants\/dr-emma-simpson\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.newcastle-hospitals.nhs.uk\/consultants\/dr-emma-simpson\/\">Emma Simpson<\/a>, Paediatric Intensivist at the Freeman Hospital has recently led a multi-disciplinary collaboration with Aachen University and industry partner \u2018Berlin Heart GmBH\u2019, funded by <a href=\"https:\/\/eit.europa.eu\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/eit.europa.eu\">European Institute of Innovation and Technology<\/a>. The aim is to bring to market  a mobile driving device for the Berlin Heart Ventricular Assist (VAD) and thus transform patient experience.
