{"id":57,"date":"2017-03-07T10:35:35","date_gmt":"2017-03-07T10:35:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/danielrico\/?p=57"},"modified":"2017-03-07T10:35:35","modified_gmt":"2017-03-07T10:35:35","slug":"i-got-a-wellcome-trust-seed-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/danielrico\/2017\/03\/07\/i-got-a-wellcome-trust-seed-award\/","title":{"rendered":"I got a Wellcome Trust Seed Award!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am really happy to announce that I have been awarded with a <a href=\"https:\/\/wellcome.ac.uk\/funding\/seed-awards-science\" target=\"_blank\">Wellcome Trust Seed Award in Science<\/a> &#8211; I am really honoured to be the first Early Career PI at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/medicalsciences\/\" target=\"_blank\">Newcastle Faculty of Medical Sciences<\/a> to get this prestigious award!<\/p>\n<p>We will study Sex-dependent gene regulation in immune cells, mining publicly available transcriptomics and epigenomics datasets. The goal is to understand how the &#8220;same&#8221; immune cell type can show different gene expression patterns in men and women, and how these differences can explain their different immune responses.
