The Disabilities Workstream

The Disabilities Workstream

The Disabilities Workstream aims to provide support to current and aspiring trainees with disabilities. This includes individuals with any long-term mental health conditions (e.g. depression, anxiety), physical health conditions (e.g. chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple sclerosis) and neurodiversities (e.g. autism, dyslexia, ADHD).

The Disabilities Workstream currently runs a reflective space for Newcastle University DClinpsy trainees with disabilities; this is facilitated by a clinical psychologist who is not a member of the Newcastle University DClinPsy course team.

The Disabilities Workstream also hope to have their mentoring scheme up and running for the next academic year; the aim of the mentoring scheme is to provide support to aspiring trainees applying to DClinPsy programmes throughout the full application and interview process.

Ultimately, the Disabilities Workstream aims to support and promote inclusivity of those with disabilities within the profession.
