This course provides an overview of the UK General Data Protection Regulation ( UK GDPR). The UK GDPR, in conjunction with the Data Protection Act 2018, sets out the principles that organisations must follow when dealing with information about living identifiable individuals, as well as the rights those individuals have.

This course will provide you with several tools and suggestions to implement so you can ensure that your remote meetings are successful.

NUVision Media Library is open to all staff at the university. The service converts uploaded videos and provides you with an easy method of embedding the content in services such as Canvas (VLE), Blogs etc. Any member of staff can use the video streaming service to deliver media for which they hold the copyright (or have the permission of the copyright holder to use).
With guest access, you can provide access to teams, documents in channels, resources, chats, and applications to people outside of the University, while maintaining control over your data. For example, guests may include partners, research groups, suppliers, or consultants. Anyone who is not part of the University can be added as a guest in Teams. This means that anyone with an email account can participate as a guest in Teams, with access to teams and channel experiences.

Rocket is Newcastle University’s institution-wide HPC (high performance computing) service. Rocket is open to anyone at the University whose computations can be run on Linux and are too large, long or numerous to be accommodated on a single desktop machine.
There are many ways to connect and collaborate remotely at Newcastle University. You can use a technology-enabled venue, participate from your desk, or even connect from the comfort of your own home! Zoom and Microsoft Teams are available to all staff and students at the University to fulfil all your virtual meeting needs.
