NESS (Newcastle E-Learning Support System) is the system used to support the administration of marks and exam boards in academic units, in line with University regulations. Numbas is a tool developed at Newcastle that performs automatic marking of a variety of types of answer, including mathematical expressions, numbers, short text, and multiple-choice. Numbas is perfect for maths testing, but can be applied to many different subjects.
Permissions allow users to access certain features and perform certain functions within Canvas and these permissions are dependent on the role that a user has been given. In Canvas there are two levels of role: course level (NU Module) and school level (Canvas sub-account).
New Analytics aggregates data about content on Canvas at course and account levels that could be used by colleagues to make informed decisions about their course design and students learning.
