If you are using a Word document which has citations inside of text boxes, EndNote formats the citations appearing in text boxes first. This means that your in-text citations do not begin with 1. The suggested workaround for this is to convert the text boxes to frames.
Right click on the text box which contains the citation and choose ‘Format’, then ‘Text Box’. Select the Text Box tab and click ‘Convert to Frame’, then click ‘OK’ to confirm the conversion. Now format the bibliography, this should solve the problem.

Downloading from databases on RAS fixed
RAS on machines in Internet cafes and other machines where you can’t install Citrix
If you want to use EndNote via RAS, but have to use a PC on which you can’t install the Citrix software, follow these instructions from ISS and it should still work.
Problem with Endnote on RAS!!
There seems to be a problem with Endnote on RAS at present – it will not let us change the folder locations to use styles on our personal file space. ISS have been unable to solve it and we’re waiting for help from the EndNote technical support team. Endnote is still working fine on cluster PCs, it is just RAS that has the problem
Common Endnote problems : Endnote and Word on RAS
Another reminder that there is a glitch which we haven’t been able to solve which means Endnote and Word don’t work together on RAS if you open Endnote first. However, they work fine if you open Word first – it will then automatically open Endnote and you can then connect to Endnote via the Endnote toolbar in Word as normal.
Common Endnote problems: Generic service error
Just a reminder that if you have used an earlier version of Endnote, when you use Endnote X you may get a messsage saying “Generic Service Error” – often when downloading from external resources, but also during other operations. You can usually fix this by running the “Fix my endnote profile” script – in RAS it’s in the Biobliog software folder and on the main clusters go to Start, Database Software, Endnote, Profile fix.
Service Error Generic
Recently we’ve encountered a few problems with the Error Message “Service Error Generic” which seems to pop up at random intervals while using Endnote. Sometimes if you’re in Word, it seems as if everything has stopped and it’s often because this error message has popped up in Endnote and is hidden behind your Word document. John East at Queensland alerted me to the FAQ on the Endnote web pages (see link above) which explains how to deal with it. We’ll also be linking to this from our Top Tips pages soon.
