Our research spans conservation biology, population genetics, evolution and molecular ecology.

Our research group at Newcastle University (est. 2020) works in a wide variety of study systems, from the conservation of Galapagos giant tortoises to monitoring outbreaks of the invasive yellow-legged hornet in the UK to reconstructing of wetland bird communities from sedamentary DNA. We always interested in new collaborations and projects!

Rachel Gray’s Graduation

On December 5, 2025 Rachel got to dress up as a wizard and officially became the first PhD graduate from the Biodiversity Genomics Lab!
