These elements include the history of Ukiyo-e, stylistic devices such as oblique perspective and the use of materials such as natural pigments. Through a considered use of materials, the work also explores the tensions around the exploitation of plants and animals in the art making process and encourages an increased awareness of the significance of the materials that we use.
