{"id":788,"date":"2018-12-18T06:04:57","date_gmt":"2018-12-18T06:04:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/fmsdiversity\/?p=788"},"modified":"2019-06-25T11:33:53","modified_gmt":"2019-06-25T10:33:53","slug":"fms-edi-week-21st-25th-january-save-the-date","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/fmsdiversity\/2018\/12\/18\/fms-edi-week-21st-25th-january-save-the-date\/","title":{"rendered":"FMS EDI Week 21st-25th January &#8211; save the date!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>FMS will be holding its very first EDI Week from the 21st &#8211; 25th of January &#8211; why not get involved?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The week is firstly to celebrate our successes so far, with the unveiling of our <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/fmsdiversity\/2018\/10\/18\/silver-athena-swan\/\">Athena SWAN silver award<\/a>, which recognises our achievements in promoting and progressing gender equality for all staff and students. However, as well as reflecting how far we have come, we will also be thinking about what we would like to achieve, and will be running a number of events and activities that staff and students can get involved with.<\/p>\n<p>Although we are still confirming some events (final programme to be announced early January), we have some already pencilled in and you can get the times into your diary now!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>21st January:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Launch Event &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong>12-1pm,<br \/>\n&#8220;Why does EDI matter?&#8221; &#8211; hear from staff about why EDI matters to them.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff\">X<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>EDI and the Professional Pathway\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; 2-3pm,<br \/>\nKatherine Rogers, Director of Faculty Operations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>22nd January:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>EDI Bitesize: &#8220;What is Athena SWAN?&#8221;\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; 2-3pm<br \/>\nCandy Rowe, Director of EDI for FMS will explain what Athena SWAN is and what it means for the Faculty.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff\">X<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Athena SWAN Silver for Newcastle University<\/strong> &#8211; 3-4pm<br \/>\nJudith Rankin, Dean of Diversity will talk about the work currently going on to renew the University&#8217;s institutional Silver Athena SWAN Award.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff\">X<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Wellbeing Session\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; lunchtime (TBC)<br \/>\nSession hosted by Michael Atkinson on mindfulness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>23rd January:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>EDI Design Principles for FMS\u00a0<\/strong> &#8211; 12-2pm<br \/>\nJane Richards and the Good to Great (G2G) Team will run a session about embedding EDI into faculty working in the future.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>24th January:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>EDI Fair\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; 12-2pm<br \/>\nA fair to showcase information and get a chance to speak to the EDI Team, representatives from different staff\/PGR networks, and the ECR Mentoring Scheme.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff\">X<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Athena SWAN Celebration &amp; Unveiling\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; lunchtime (TBC)<br \/>\nPVC of FMS, David Burn, will unveil the Faculty&#8217;s Athena SWAN Silver Award and celebrate the incredible work and achievement the award symbolises.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">25th January:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8216;For Families&#8217; Launch Event\u00a0<\/strong> &#8211; 10am &#8211; 12pm<br \/>\nEvent jointly hosted by NU Women and NU Parents.
