{"id":1431,"date":"2022-04-12T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-04-12T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/fmstel\/?p=1431"},"modified":"2022-04-19T14:37:13","modified_gmt":"2022-04-19T13:37:13","slug":"video-award-success-for-fms-tel-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/fmstel\/2022\/04\/12\/video-award-success-for-fms-tel-team\/","title":{"rendered":"Video Award Success for FMS TEL Team"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Several members of the FMS TEL team attended the NU Teaching &amp; Learning Conference on Thursday 31<sup>st<\/sup> March giving strong representation of the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was a great day with some very insightful presentations on a broad range of topics and a very interesting keynote from Professor Paul Ashwin. It was also the first time in years that the conference has been able to be run \u2018in person\u2019 and with around 300 attendees it felt like a slight return to normality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Members of the FMS TEL team had both \u2018posters\u2019 and \u2018video presentations\u2019 entered into the competitions. Attendees were sent a link to view them and were able to vote for their favourites both in the week leading up to the conference and also on the day itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"580\" height=\"386\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/fmstel\/files\/2022\/04\/DSC00962.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/fmstel\/files\/2022\/04\/DSC00962.png 580w, https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/fmstel\/files\/2022\/04\/DSC00962-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 580px) 85vw, 580px\" \/><figcaption>Eleanor Gordon (left) and Ashley Reynolds (right) <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Ashley Reynolds and Eleanor Gordon from the FMS TEL team were delighted to be announced winners of the \u2018Best Video Award\u2019 for their video presentation titled \u2018Creating and using animations to explain concepts\u2019 which highlighted how animations could be used to enhance teaching, and techniques that will both improve memory retention and also increase learner engagement.
