A&nbsp;<\/em>shorter version entitled&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/global-health\/science-and-disease\/access-clean-water-may-vital-cutting-antibiotic-use-fight-against\/?fbclid=IwAR0SpcYayU3UUEeEIzngxV2yvdJ4Z-nW9AoK_9E_J-llDARCx9zEs52jOoY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Access to clean water may be as vital as cutting antibiotic use in the fight against superbugs<\/a>&nbsp;also was published in&nbsp;<em>The Telegraph<\/em>. Both articles discuss the importance of environmental factors in the spread of antibiotic resistance, especially in the developing world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These articles comment on the just-published&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/water_sanitation_health\/publications\/wash-wastewater-management-to-prevent-infections-and-reduce-amr\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Technical Brief<\/a>&nbsp;on antimicrobial resistance from the World Health Organization; Food and Agriculture Organization; and World Organization for Animal Health. The brief provides recommendations on the implementation of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), and wastewater management as strategy for preventing infections and reduce the spread of antimicrobial resistance around the world.
