The team of researchers, led by Newcastle University Prof David W Graham, utilises a holistic \u2018One Health Approach\u2019, and contributes to several of the UN\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/sustainabledevelopment.un.org\/?menu=1300\">Sustainable Development Goals<\/a> (SDGs).  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our research provides guidance to various international organisations, including the World Health Organisation, and bridges sustainable development, engineering, health, and sociotechnical mitigation options for reducing global AMR. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main topics we explore are<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>the transmission, fate and impact of antibiotic resistance genes in the environment resulting from human activity;<\/li><li>energy\u202fminimization in water,\u202fwastewater and solid waste management systems; <\/li><li>the microbiology and ecology\u202fof greenhouse gas\u202fsuppression and production in geochemical settings,\u202fespecially\u202fin Polar regions; and <\/li><li>water and environmental quality in\u202fthe developing and emerging world. <\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The GrahAM Research Group focus primarily on work surrounding antimicrobial resistance (AMR), taking a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to global health and well-being.
