Lexend is a sans-serif font which was designed by Bonnie Shaver-Troup as a dyslexia-friendly open-source font intended to reduce visual stress for the reader. In fact, it’s what this website uses as its primary typeface i.e. you’re looking at it now!
It is always important within academia to ensure our work is as accessible as possible to everyone. Therefore, using a dyslexia-friendly font in writings should be something we all try to do, along with other accessible practices such as using pronouns in digital communications, applying “alt-text” to digitally published images, and more generally working with accessibility in mind.
