Outcome of Examination

You will receive the comments and recommendations from the examiners and will be given an amount of time to work on your thesis – depending on the type of corrections that you’re being asked for.

When the thesis has been resubmitted, your examiners will be sent the appropriate resubmission reports which they should complete within 6 weeks of receiving the resubmitted version of your thesis. If you are required to attend a second viva, it’s expected to be arranged within 3 months.

Once your examiner(s) have completed all the necessary paperwork, everything has been signed by the Dean of Postgraduate Studies, and it’s recommended that you are awarded the degree, the Graduate School will ask you for two hardbound copies as well as a new e-copy. They will issue your pass list upon receipt of the requested copies of your thesis.

Should you need more information on the format of the thesis, there are guidelines online, and so is the Library Deposit Licence for Print and Electronic Theses.

Finally, all information will be passed on to the congregations office who will send the parchment version of your degree to your home address. Should you wish, you’re also welcome to attend one of the congregation ceremonies which are usually held in July and December.
