The ICM offers many development opportunities beyond the research training of your postgraduate degree.
The most important resource for development opportunities is the graduate school development programme. In particular we recommend browsing the development programme handbook you can download from that page. The workshops in the Faculty of Medicine can be booked here and in our faculty, Richy Hetherington is always happy to speak to you about your development needs. Note also that you can book onto workshops delivered in other faculties.
If you’re interested in developing skills other than what you specifically need for your research project, why not get involved in our extra-curricular opportunities and take part in workshops, teaching, or even become a student representative? Both PrICM and RealICM organise a number of research and social events throughout the academic year which are worth attending.
We also recommend the North-East Postgraduate Conference, which is run for North-East students and by North-East students. While the invitation is extended to all our local Universities, the ICM has historically played a major role in the organisation of this event which has an established place in the local scientific calendar.
If you’re interested in spending time abroad while working on your research project and/or learning new techniques in the lab, then you might want to think about outside study.
