Examiners

The examination process is so important that the graduate school publish a separate Examiners’ Handbook, essential reading before the exam. Here we summarise the key points of the guidance.

When the student notifies us of their intention to submit a thesis, the supervisors will be asked to nominate the panel of examiners. We have separate pages that describe the criteria for  Internal examiners and External examiners, and the Internal chair where necessary.

The student would normally submit around 3 months later, and for MD and PhD candidates the examination follows; for MPhil degrees, an oral exam is at the discretion of the examiners.

The Outcome of Examination would normally be agreed between the examiners on the day, but there might be a requirement for corrections or even a further examination.
