There are three official start dates for PGR students, one at the beginning of each term and in principle all our PGR students will begin their studies on one of these dates, although a non-standard start date is possible if there’s sufficient justification and only after approval by the Dean of Postgraduate Studies.
Following the university start dates, the ICM organises two inductions: the biggest one in October to welcome all students who have started around the beginning of the academic year and a second one in May for everyone who started after October.
During induction, all students are introduced to the ICM PGR Team, are given information about what is expected and there’s a chance to ask questions or raise any concerns they might have. All students receive an induction pack with a checklist for their first year and the most frequently used forms.
We tend to organise our induction around lunchtime which means there’s usually food for all participants!
