That is why alongside\u00a0faculty organised inductions, we also have our very own <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/induction\/\">ICM Induction<\/a> where we explain postgraduate regulations and procedures, focus on the first deadlines (<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/learning-agreement\/\">learning agreement<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/project-proposal\/\">project proposal<\/a>) and students can ask questions.<\/p>\n<p>All\u00a0active students will be asked to log a <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/attendance\/\">monthly meeting<\/a> with their supervisor.\u00a0This is part of all students&#8217; annual progression, but it&#8217;s of extra importance for all international students as it is one of the requirements for their tier4 visa. Other key milestones will be participating in the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/researchseminars\/\">research seminars<\/a> and completing an <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/apr\/\">annual progress review<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Once you get near the end of your project, it&#8217;s time to start thinking about your thesis <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/thesis-submission\/\">submission<\/a> and examination. We&#8217;ll try to summarise the key information about the submission process, requirements for <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/early-submission\/\">early<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/late-submission\/\">late<\/a> submission, the actual <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/examination-process\/\">examination procedure<\/a> and possible <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/outcome-of-examination\/\">exam outcomes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-685 alignleft\" style=\"font-size: 16px\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/files\/2017\/10\/campus-300x195.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"195\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/files\/2017\/10\/campus-300x195.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/files\/2017\/10\/campus.jpg 599w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re interested in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/development\/\">developing<\/a> other skills than\u00a0those\u00a0specifically\u00a0required for your research project, why not get involved in our <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/development\/\">extra-curricular opportunities<\/a> and take part in <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/workshops\/\">workshops<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/teaching\/\">teaching<\/a>, or even become a <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/student-reps\/\">student representative<\/a>? Both <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/pricm\/\">PrICM<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/real-icm\/\">RealICM<\/a> organise a number of\u00a0research and social\u00a0events throughout the academic year which are worth attending.<\/p>\n<p>Or, if you&#8217;re interested in spending time abroad while working on your\u00a0research project and\/or learning new techniques in the lab, then you might want to\u00a0think about\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/outside-study\/\">outside study<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Even though we&#8217;d like things to go smoothly for all students, we&#8217;re well aware that sometimes there are <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/specialcircumstances\/\">special circumstances<\/a> that can affect your work, whether it&#8217;s a <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/change-of-degree\/\">change of degree<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/change-of-supervisor\/\">change of supervisors<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/change-of-project\/\">change of project<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/interruptionextension\/\">interruption or extension of studies <\/a>&#8211;\u00a0or if there&#8217;s no other way\u00a0but\u00a0to <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmpgr\/withdrawal\/\">withdraw<\/a> completely.\u00a0Whatever\u00a0the problem, don&#8217;t hesitate to contact us.
