If English is not your first language you will need to provide a recognised English language test or qualification. The required level of knowledge does vary, so\u00a0please read the &#8216;entry requirements&#8217; section of our postgraduate course pages, but in general, students coming to the ICM need an average score of 6.5, with none of the tested sub-skills scoring under 5.5<\/p>\n<h3>English language courses<\/h3>\n<p>Students who don&#8217;t meet\u00a0the\u00a0English language requirements\u00a0will be asked to\u00a0complete a course to help improve their English before\u00a0starting their\u00a0degree. These are provided at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/ipc\/?utm_source=International_language_support&amp;utm_medium=IPC_link&amp;utm_term=INTO&amp;utm_campaign=IPC_International_Site\">INTO Newcastle<\/a>. Students who haven&#8217;t\u00a0studied with INTO Newcastle will be asked to take a short English Language test upon arrival.<\/p>\n<h3>Language support<\/h3>\n<p>Newcastle University offers <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/students\/insessional\/\">free English lessons<\/a> throughout the year.
