{"id":327,"date":"2018-03-06T12:48:45","date_gmt":"2018-03-06T12:48:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmresearchfunding\/?p=327"},"modified":"2018-03-06T12:48:45","modified_gmt":"2018-03-06T12:48:45","slug":"wellcome-trust-public-engagement-fund-launched-050318","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmresearchfunding\/2018\/03\/06\/wellcome-trust-public-engagement-fund-launched-050318\/","title":{"rendered":"Wellcome Trust, Public Engagement Fund launched 05\/03\/18"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Wellcome Trust recently announced that it was changing its public engagement strategy: <a href=\"https:\/\/wellcome.ac.uk\/news\/public-engagement-fund-relaunch-tighter-focus-outcomes\">https:\/\/wellcome.ac.uk\/news\/public-engagement-fund-relaunch-tighter-focus-outcomes<\/a> \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\/\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wellcome.ac.uk\/news\/wellcomes-approach-engaging-public-going-change\">https:\/\/wellcome.ac.uk\/news\/wellcomes-approach-engaging-public-going-change<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Today, 5<sup>th<\/sup> March 2018, the Wellcome has launched its new <u>Public Engagement Fund<\/u>: <a href=\"https:\/\/wellcome.ac.uk\/funding\/public-engagement-fund\">https:\/\/wellcome.ac.uk\/funding\/public-engagement-fund<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The revised fund supports projects of between \u00a325K and \u00a33m for up to 3 years.<\/p>\n<p>Wellcome are looking for creative approaches to engage the public but these must align with their PE goals.<\/p>\n<p>The proposal, must include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The main outcomes you want to achieve during the project, the outputs (activities) you\u2019ll undertake, and any longer-term impacts you hope your project will have<\/li>\n<li>The people you want to reach, and why you want to work with them<\/li>\n<li>Previous activities, knowledge or learning that your proposal will build on<\/li>\n<li>An outline plan of how you will deliver the project<\/li>\n<li>How you\u2019ll track if your project has been successful in achieving its outcomes<\/li>\n<li>How you\u2019ll share what you\u2019ve learned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Resources for those interested in this opportunity include;<\/p>\n<p>Wellcome\u2019s public engagement goals: <a href=\"https:\/\/wellcome.ac.uk\/what-we-do\/our-work\/public-engagement\">https:\/\/wellcome.ac.uk\/what-we-do\/our-work\/public-engagement<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat good proposals looks like\u201d (pdf): <a href=\"https:\/\/wellcome.ac.uk\/sites\/default\/files\/public-engagement-fund-what-good-proposals-look-like.pdf\">https:\/\/wellcome.ac.uk\/sites\/default\/files\/public-engagement-fund-what-good-proposals-look-like.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Upcoming deadlines:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Proposals for grants of \u00a325,000 to \u00a3250,000<\/strong> \u2013 3<sup>rd<\/sup> May 2018 and 28<sup>th<\/sup> June 2018 (there will be four deadlines per year).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Over \u00a3250k<\/strong> &#8211;
