{"id":705,"date":"2019-03-13T14:37:39","date_gmt":"2019-03-13T14:37:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmresearchfunding\/?p=705"},"modified":"2019-04-03T15:00:44","modified_gmt":"2019-04-03T14:00:44","slug":"epsrc-transformative-healthcare-technologies-for-2050","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmresearchfunding\/2019\/03\/13\/epsrc-transformative-healthcare-technologies-for-2050\/","title":{"rendered":"EPSRC Transformative Healthcare Technologies for 2050"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/epsrc.ukri.org\/funding\/calls\/transformativehealthcare2050\/\">https:\/\/epsrc.ukri.org\/funding\/calls\/transformativehealthcare2050\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Deadline: 2nd May 2019 (outline stage)<\/p>\n<p>Amount: Up to \u00a325 million to fund 4 &#8211; 6 projects<\/p>\n<p>The Healthcare Technologies Theme aims to invest in research to support the next generation of underpinning science and emerging technologies.<\/p>\n<p>The focus of this call is Transformative Healthcare Technologies for 2050; technologies expected to have an impact within the next 30 years for the NHS, community or home care and an ageing workforce.<\/p>\n<p>EPSRC are looking to support visionary projects which could create a step change in how healthcare is delivered.<\/p>\n<p>EPSRC wishes to encourage new thinking and collaborations which will bring about the technologies to impact the healthcare sector within the next 30 years.<\/p>\n<p>EPSRC particularly welcome projects and collaborations which address underrepresented parts of the portfolio.<\/p>\n<p>As such, the Transformative Healthcare Technologies for 2050 call will focus on the needs of the following two Healthcare Technologies Grand Challenges:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Transforming Community Health and Care<\/li>\n<li>Frontiers of Physical Intervention<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applications to this call are encouraged across the breadth of engineering, physical sciences, mathematical sciences and ICT.<\/p>\n<p>EPSRC are looking for applications that do not just consider health treatment but also homecare, prevention and wellbeing with the overall goal of keeping people physically and mentally healthy.<\/p>\n<p>EPSRC encourages new ideas, thinking and collaborations, in areas currently underrepresented in our portfolio, to address what could be routine in the NHS in 30 years&#8217; time.
