{"id":933,"date":"2019-07-31T12:59:13","date_gmt":"2019-07-31T11:59:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmresearchfunding\/?p=933"},"modified":"2019-07-31T12:59:13","modified_gmt":"2019-07-31T11:59:13","slug":"mrc-genome-editing-mice-for-medicine-gemm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/icmresearchfunding\/2019\/07\/31\/mrc-genome-editing-mice-for-medicine-gemm\/","title":{"rendered":"MRC Genome Editing Mice for Medicine (GEMM)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Genome Editing Mice for Medicine (GEMM Call 6)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mrc.ukri.org\/funding\/browse\/gemm\/genome-editing-mice-for-medicine\/\">https:\/\/mrc.ukri.org\/funding\/browse\/gemm\/genome-editing-mice-for-medicine\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.har.mrc.ac.uk\/international-programmes\/gemms\">https:\/\/www.har.mrc.ac.uk\/international-programmes\/gemms<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Deadline 25<sup>th<\/sup> October 2019<\/p>\n<p>MRC has committed up to \u00a34.5m over 5 years to the Mary Lyon Centre to administer the Genome Editing Mice for Medicine (GEMM) funding scheme.<\/p>\n<p>This will exploit the Centre\u2019s expertise to deliver novel mouse lines to advance knowledge of human disease and\/or be of wide use in biomedical science.<\/p>\n<p>The UK academic research community is invited to nominate mouse lines for production and outline their own experimental plans for them.<\/p>\n<p>GEMM Call 6 is a full call open to nominations for mouse lines carrying bespoke indels, deletions, point mutations, conditionals and cassette knock-ins.<\/p>\n<p>Nominations will be assessed by a cross-discipline panel of experts across two key themes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The nominator\u2019s own research hypotheses and specific research plans for the mouse.<\/li>\n<li>The beneficial impact the proposed novel mouse line will have on the wider academic community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This award will financially support mouse line generation and archiving, but not the nominator\u2019s own experimental research costs.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants will therefore be asked to describe the funding in place to support their proposed downstream work.<\/p>\n<p>Successfully-generated mouse lines will be made publicly-available through the European Mouse Mutant Archive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you are interested in applying, please ensure to read the full call guidance available through the links above and also the GEMM 6 guide <\/strong>(pdf available via links)<strong>. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Details of how to apply are given in the GEMM 6 guide.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Genome Editing Mice for Medicine (GEMM Call 6) https:\/\/mrc.ukri.org\/funding\/browse\/gemm\/genome-editing-mice-for-medicine\/ https:\/\/www.har.mrc.ac.uk\/international-programmes\/gemms Deadline 25th October 2019 MRC has committed up to \u00a34.5m over 5 years to the Mary Lyon Centre to administer the Genome Editing Mice for Medicine (GEMM) funding scheme.
