{"id":1088,"date":"2015-07-06T15:46:48","date_gmt":"2015-07-06T14:46:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/igmengagement\/?page_id=1088"},"modified":"2015-07-06T16:44:33","modified_gmt":"2015-07-06T15:44:33","slug":"use-of-human-tissues-for-education-and-training-purposes-hta","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/igmengagement\/toolkits-and-useful-links\/use-of-human-tissues-for-education-and-training-purposes-hta\/","title":{"rendered":"Use of human tissues for education and training purposes (HTA)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The HTA&#8217;s position statement on education and training can be found at this link:\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hta.gov.uk\/policies\/storage-human-material-teaching-schools-and-colleges\">https:\/\/www.hta.gov.uk\/policies\/storage-human-material-teaching-schools-and-colleges<\/a>. \u00a0There are two factors to consider \u2013 licensing and consent.\u00a0 The key points of note were summarized by Mhairi Anderson (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.newcastlejro.org.uk\/\">http:\/\/www.newcastlejro.org.uk\/<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Overview:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For anyone who wishes to conduct engagement activities with school groups, make sure that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">The pupils are from a primary or secondary school group- this includes 6<sup>th<\/sup> form either in a school or a college.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">\u00a0If the students are older (college, University) that you inform Mhairi or Andy Hall, so that they can work towards putting the appropriate documentation and procedures in place before any engagement activities occur.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">The group have been invited as a closed group, and the material isn&#8217;t being displayed in a public place.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">If material is taken out of the University for education and training that ISN\u2019T for primary or secondary school or 6<sup>th<\/sup> form, that the premises the material is being taken to is appropriately licensed under the HTA.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">The material was taken from the living and\/or collected pre-1st September 2006.
