This panel will make a shortlist of finalists&#8217; entries from each age category which best meet the judging criteria.<\/p>\n<p>The shortlist will be passed to the <strong>competition judges<\/strong> who will select a winning entry from each category. They may also identify some entries as &#8216;highly commended&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Winning entries will receive written feedback on their story from the judges.<\/p>\n<p><strong>So who are the judges?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The organisers have appointed a panel of expert and highly regarded scientists and writers\u00a0who will make the final selection of winning entries.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-171 alignright\" style=\"margin: 5px;border-width: 0px\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/igmengagement\/files\/2013\/04\/Helen-Limon.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"104\" height=\"131\" \/><strong>Dr Helen Limon<\/strong> is Writer in Residence at Seven Stories National Centre for Children&#8217;s Books and is working with the archive of the UK&#8217;s most widely read writers for children, Enid Blyton. She lives in Northumberland and teaches at Newcastle University. She has published a number of picture books, including the award winning <em>My Mother is Tr<\/em><em>oll<\/em>. Her first novel for children, <em>Om Shanti, Babe <\/em>(Frances Lincoln, 2012), won the Diverse Voices Award.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-204\" style=\"border: 0px none;margin-right: 5px;margin-top: 5px;margin-bottom: 5px;margin-left: 0px\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/igmengagement\/files\/2013\/04\/Kate_Bushby.jpg\" alt=\"Kate Bushby\" width=\"104\" height=\"131\" \/><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Professor Kate Bushby<\/strong> is both a doctor and a researcher, working for Newcastle University and the NHS, and based at the Centre for Life. Katie is an expert in molecular genetics, leading a team of researchers, and has helped to advise doctors around the world on the best ways to care for people with genetic muscle diseases.
