I have only recently starting using the app when I moved to university and it <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-47 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ihall\/files\/2016\/11\/gett-1-300x201.png\" alt=\"gett-1\" width=\"235\" height=\"160\" \/>has helped me get to places\/find places in the city.<\/p>\n<p>The application is simple to use once you have filled in the necessary account information. Simply select the app using your smartphone\/tablet, input a pick up place and time or use the map to just set the pick up\u00a0point to your current location.\u00a0Once the pick up point has been set the app will calculate how long it will take the driver to arrive\u00a0and even show their location on the map! The taxi is pre-paid for by you (the card\u00a0holder) so you never need to\u00a0worry about having enough change to pay.<\/p>\n<pre><strong>Advantages of using this app<\/strong>:<\/pre>\n<ul>\n<li>Journeys are pre-paid using your card which is linked to your Get Taxis account.(Especially useful late at night when you hop in a cab and realise you\u00a0have no cash to give the driver!)<\/li>\n<li>It avoids you having to call busy taxi telephone lines, especially at peak times on a Friday\/Saturday night.<\/li>\n<li>The app gives an accurate arrival time of the Taxi and shows his whereabouts on a live mini-map.<\/li>\n<li>The driver already has information about you that he can see on his phone e.g. like your telephone number should they need to ring you if they cannot find you.<\/li>\n<li>The app offers up to \u00a35 off every ride which is a good discount when you are not going far!<\/li>\n<li>You can use the app to book taxis in major cities around the world.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<pre><strong>Disadvantages of using the app:<\/strong><\/pre>\n<ul>\n<li>When you are paying by the meter the app cannot give you the exact cost of the ride when you book.<\/li>\n<li>It only finds you Get Taxi &#8211;\u00a0low fare black cab drivers rather than finding you the cheapest drivers from all of the taxi firms in the city.<\/li>\n<li>The app cant always find you a car if all of the drivers are busy.<\/li>\n<li>If you GPS is incorrect then you might accidentally set the pick up point to the wrong location!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<pre><strong>Summary of Get Taxis - low fare black cab app:<\/strong><\/pre>\n<p>After first using the app at university, I have found it a lot quicker and cheaper to book Taxis than I ever did before.\u00a0The thing I like most about the app is the discount you receive every time you book a ride. Because competition for business between taxi firms in Newcastle is high, receiving an extra discount of \u00a35 per ride makes the cost of the ride extremely low (just a couple of pound per trip!) I even managed to get a taxi on a Saturday night at 3am from one side of the city to the other for \u00a31.80!
