{"id":217,"date":"2010-11-24T11:51:31","date_gmt":"2010-11-24T11:51:31","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2010-11-24T11:51:31","modified_gmt":"2010-11-24T11:51:31","slug":"workaround_for_the_the_network_folder_sp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/isg\/?p=217","title":{"rendered":"Workaround for the: &#8220;The network folder specified is currently mapped using a different user name and password&#8221; error"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some people make use of the &#8220;Connect using different credentials feature&#8221; when working with different permissions is required:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/wit.ncl.ac.uk\/blog_files\/James\/map.PNG\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It seems that this can sometimes result in the error message &#8220;The network folder specified is currently mapped using a different user name and password&#8221; error message.&#8221; The message can occur even when this is not the case! <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/wit.ncl.ac.uk\/blog_files\/James\/error.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Microsoft state that this behaviour is by design and provide a <a href=\"http:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/kb\/938120\">workaround.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Use the IP address of the remote server when you try to connect to the network share&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This does seem to work but requires that you know the name of the IP of the server you are connecting to.
