{"id":221,"date":"2008-11-06T12:00:05","date_gmt":"2008-11-06T12:00:05","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2008-11-06T12:01:53","modified_gmt":"2008-11-06T12:01:53","slug":"server_2008_clustering_best_practices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/isg\/?p=221","title":{"rendered":"Server 2008 Clustering Best Practices"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m posting  these notes largely for my benefit but it may be of some interest to anyone Clustering with Server 2008.<\/p>\n<p><strong>General Best Practices<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use the Failover Cluster Configuration Program (FCCP) during setup.<\/li>\n<li>Use identical equipment where possible and run the Cluster validation tool after each configuration change.<\/li>\n<li>Microsoft will only support validated clusters.<\/li>\n<li>Take regular system state backups.<\/li>\n<li>Use preferred and possible owners and choose carefuly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Quorum Best Practices<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use a dedicated basic single volume disk<\/li>\n<li>RAID 1+0 recommended.<\/li>\n<li>No need to backup Quorum disk.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid DFS paths when using file share witness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m posting these notes largely for my benefit but it may be of some interest to anyone Clustering with Server 2008.
