{"id":45,"date":"2008-07-11T09:31:07","date_gmt":"2008-07-11T09:31:07","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2008-07-11T09:33:31","modified_gmt":"2008-07-11T09:33:31","slug":"rsat_part_3_mapping_network_drives_with","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/isg\/?p=45","title":{"rendered":"RSAT Part 3: Mapping network drives with Group Policy and without Scripts!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of most common scripts we write for users and groups of users is a simple drive map. <\/p>\n<p>For example:<\/p>\n<p><code>net use S: \\\\campus\\software \/persistent:yes<\/code>  <\/p>\n<p>Now, Group Policy Preference Client Side Extensions &amp; RSAT now allow for drive to be mapped without any extra work.<\/p>\n<p>1.\tCreate and name a new Policy.<\/p>\n<p>2.\tUser Configuration > Preferences > Windows Settings > Drive Maps<\/p>\n<p>3.\tRight Click  > New > Mapped Drive<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/wit.ncl.ac.uk\/blog_files\/James\/Map1.jpg\" alt=\"Map1\" title=\"Map1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>4.\tChoose the behaviour (Create, Replace, Update or Delete) from the Action dropdown.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/wit.ncl.ac.uk\/blog_files\/James\/Map2.jpg\" alt=\"Map2\" title=\"Map1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>5.\tEnter a location e.g. \\\\campus\\software\\<\/p>\n<p>6.\tTick reconnect if you want the connection to persist (this replaces the <code>\/persistent:yes switch<\/code>)<\/p>\n<p>7.\tChoose a drive letter.<\/p>\n<p>8.\tIf you wish you can set the Connect as fields.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/wit.ncl.ac.uk\/blog_files\/James\/Map3.jpg\" alt=\"Map3\" title=\"Map3\" \/><\/p>\n<p>9.\tMake sure the permissions are correct for the target folder.<\/p>\n<p>10.\tSave and apply your policy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of most common scripts we write for users and groups of users is a simple drive map.
