The in-person programme is subject to COVID-19 national and international travel, border and quarantine restrictions. Please be aware that, as a result of these (or other factors beyond our control), ISLE may change the format of the Summer School to wholly online at a later date, cancel the full programme, or cancel elements within it. In-person participants should therefore organise their own health, travel and personal insurances in advance. Every effort will be made to update participants as quickly as possible should a change occur. We will closely communicate with those affected and try to find a satisfactory solution for everyone.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The in-person events will be held on-campus at Newcastle University. There are regular connections to many major UK cities, including a train from London in just under three hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A metro connection can also be found in the train station, which may  be used to connect to a closer stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">By metro<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Newcastle University can be found a couple of minutes&#8217; walk away from the <strong>Haymarket<\/strong> station on the Tyne and Wear Metro service. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The earliest service is around 05:45 and the latest is around 23:30. A map of the Metro system can be found on the Nexus website <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nexus.org.uk\/themes\/custom\/nexus\/images\/metro-map-large.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>, alongside timetables of the services available <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nexus.org.uk\/metro\/timetables-stations\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>. You may wish to make use of the Nexus Metro application available on mobile devices to keep up to date on the next available service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">By bus<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For an economical option, you can reach us by <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/uk.megabus.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Megabus<\/a><\/span> or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalexpress.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Express<\/a><\/span>, with buses for under \u00a310 from London and Glasgow. Newcastle University is also well-connected by bus to all of the local suburbs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For more information, visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/nexus.org.uk\/bus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nexus bus website<\/a> for bus timetables and fares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">By plane<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The nearest airport to the University is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newcastleairport.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Newcastle Airport<\/a><\/span>, located approximately seven miles north west of the campus. The airport hosts both domestic and international flights, providing an accessible route for attendees from further afield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The airport has its own Metro connection to the main network, with a journey time of around 25 minutes to Haymarket station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Parking<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, we are unable to offer on-campus parking to visitors.
