Her research interests focus on the English spoken in Ireland and include a variety of subdisciplines, including (historical) sociolinguistics, pragmatics, discourse analysis, stylistics and corpus linguistics. For over 20 years, his research has focused on describing the features of the English used in Kenya as a second language variety. In 2019, his 258-page monograph on the topic was published by De Gruyter Mouton as <em>Kenyan English<\/em>. In 2012, a chapter by the same title was published in Bernd Kortmann &amp; Kerstin Lunkenheimer&#8217;s (eds) <em>The Mouton World Atlas of Variation in English<\/em>. Her research interests are in the fields of dialectology and the history of post-1700 English, and she has often worked on the interface between these two fields. He is widely published in areas including the description of varieties of English, phonetics, phonology and the recent history of the English language.
