A Review on YouTube
What is YouTube?
YouTube is a service that allows people to upload videos that are user created, to their website which then anyone can watch those videos. And users can subscribe to each other and have constant updates on newly posted videos. There are two types of people who use YouTube these are: the ‘YouTuber’ who creates these videos and uploads them to the website then can create revenue from the videos as long as they are partnered with YouTube.
Advantages of YouTube
This makes it great for the use of education and revision. Because it is just the same as having a personal tutor which is a huge advantage as it encourages you to improve and increase your thinking levels. Another advantage of using YouTube for revision is that you can re-watch any video. This is good because if you don’t understand something you can go back and re-watch it to then get a better grasp on the subject or find something you missed from watching it the first go around. As well as this YouTube is a large user based site which is good because if you are watching revision videos and you don’t understand the teaching technique of one ‘YouTuber’ then you can most likely just find another revision video that is more tailored to you. The interface is very user friendly and simple to use this makes it great for all ages to use, this is good because it’s not complex to use and very easy to find what you are looking for.
Disadvantages of YouTube
Although YouTube also has disadvantages, for example it can be very distracting with videos that get recommended to the user and even the advertisement on the Website, what i mean by this if you are watching your revision videos and then it could recommend another video after which is off topic. This is an issue because it will lead to the user becoming distracted. Another issue with using YouTube as a revision technique is that the ‘YouTuber’ content can be misleading or make a mistake this is an issue because if you are learning the wrong techniques then when it comes to exams the technique you will use will be wrong. Another issue is that it requires technology to use and the internet which if you can’t get hold of or can’t afford the technology this revision technique is not for you. As well as this the technology can be expensive which if you can’t afford the technology then you can’t use YouTube as a revision technique.
Conclusion
When researching YouTube as a revision technique was fairly easy for me as I have had past experience with YouTube and using it for that purpose so thus in conclusion I would highly recommend the use of YouTube as it is an easy reliable source to acquire revision videos and new information. This is mainly because of how many people upload user created videos to the site.
