{"id":819,"date":"2023-10-12T16:41:00","date_gmt":"2023-10-12T15:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/kats\/?p=819"},"modified":"2024-05-23T12:32:21","modified_gmt":"2024-05-23T11:32:21","slug":"kats-north-of-tyne-schools-go-to-the-life-science-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/kats\/2023\/10\/12\/kats-north-of-tyne-schools-go-to-the-life-science-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"KATS: North East Combined Authority Schools Go to the Life Science Centre"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"line-height:2\">This week the KATS Team took children from Mile Castle Primary and Humsaugh Primary on a school trip to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.life.org.uk\/?gad_source=1&amp;gclid=CjwKCAjwr7ayBhAPEiwA6EIGxGtjWvh6B9Vn0N7fSZY2XCaMnVhozoMDTBk_v8JFJzYsl-38HSdn7RoC65gQAvD_BwE\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.life.org.uk\/?gad_source=1&amp;gclid=CjwKCAjwr7ayBhAPEiwA6EIGxGtjWvh6B9Vn0N7fSZY2XCaMnVhozoMDTBk_v8JFJzYsl-38HSdn7RoC65gQAvD_BwE\">Life Science Centre<\/a> in Newcastle&#8217;s city centre!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:2\">The children got to put everything that they had learnt about renewable and non renewable energy into practice by not only exploring all the exhibits, but participating in the &#8216;Electrifying Newcastle&#8217; workshop. In the workshop the children learnt how to construct an electric circuit, and how we can power lightbulbs using solar powers and wind turbines. They even got the chance to go to a planetarium show where they got to see how satellites can monitor climate change from space. Some also got to perfect their presenter skills by becoming weather forecasters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:2\">What an amazing day!
