{"id":14,"date":"2021-03-26T16:28:23","date_gmt":"2021-03-26T16:28:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/lively\/?p=14"},"modified":"2021-03-26T16:28:24","modified_gmt":"2021-03-26T16:28:24","slug":"the-lively-research-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/lively\/2021\/03\/26\/the-lively-research-project\/","title":{"rendered":"The LIVELY Research Project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Newcastle University is conducting a research project to evaluate the effectiveness of language interventions for pre-school children in nursery contexts with significant language difficulties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This research project, funded by the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/hvdl.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Heather van der Lely Foundation<\/a>, aims to evaluate the effectiveness of language interventions for children with language difficulties by randomly allocating schools to one of two groups:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Building Early Sentences Therapy (BEST)<\/strong> was developed by Newcastle University in partnership with speech and language therapists and has promising early signs of effectiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Derbyshire Language Scheme (DLS)<\/strong> has been used widely for many years.
