{"id":2102,"date":"2016-01-13T15:58:52","date_gmt":"2016-01-13T15:58:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/?p=2102"},"modified":"2016-01-13T15:58:52","modified_gmt":"2016-01-13T15:58:52","slug":"the-taught-postgraduate-offer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/2016\/01\/13\/the-taught-postgraduate-offer\/","title":{"rendered":"The Taught Postgraduate Offer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In 2011 the University developed a statement of the <a href=\"https:\/\/internal.ncl.ac.uk\/ltds\/assets\/internal-documents\/newcastle-offer.pdf\"><u>Newcastle Offer.<\/u><\/a>\u00a0 This set out the range of opportunities that we would make available to all our undergraduate students irrespective of their programme or location of study, and in 2013 the University won the THELMA for outstanding leadership and management team for its work in developing and implementing the Newcastle Offer.<\/p>\n<p>Many of the Newcastle Offer\u00a0developments\u00a0benefitted our taught postgraduate programmes and students, as well as our undergraduates (for example ReCap; \u00a0ePortoflio;\u00a0 Reward and Recognition;\u00a0 a number of assessment and feedback initiatives).\u00a0\u00a0 It was still the case, though, that the focus of the Newcastle Offer was largely undergraduate.<\/p>\n<p>The University is now developing a statement of its Taught Postgraduate Offer, focusing on the specific nature and needs of taught postgraduate provision.\u00a0 A Task and Finish Group chaired by Professor Suzanne Cholerton has recently circulated to Faculties a consultation paper &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/internal.ncl.ac.uk\/ltds\/assets\/internal-documents\/2015-12-14_PGT_Offer_consultation.pdf\"><u><span style=\"color: #0066cc\">Consultation paper on the development of the Taught Postgraduate Offer<\/span><\/u><\/a>. This includes a draft of a statement of the Taught Postgraduate Offer, why it has been developed and how it might be implemented.<\/p>\n<p>The consultation paper will go to Faculty committees over the next couple of months to get feedback from colleagues across the University, but we\u2019re also keen to receive feedback directly from schools, subject areas and individual colleagues as well.
