In particular student surveys highlight concerns about the alignment of feedback to marking criteria and inconsistencies in both the application of criteria and quality of feedback received.<\/p>\n<p>The HaSS Faculty will be holding a workshop, to discuss these issues in the context of student transitions, on:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday 1st\u00a0November 2017<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>1300-1600<\/strong> (lunch will be provided)<br \/>\nLindisfarne Room, Hadrian Building<\/p>\n<p>Though hosted by HaSS, anyone interested in this event from any faculty is welcome to attend \u2013 please feel free to disseminate details of this event to your colleagues.<\/p>\n<p>The session will explore the following questions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How can we better understand assessment and feedback in the context of student transitions?<\/li>\n<li>What are the assumptions inherent in our assessment criteria and feedback?<\/li>\n<li>Can electronic assessment and feedback tools enhance students\u2019 academic literacy?<\/li>\n<li>Can we develop a \u2018student as partners\u2019 approach in assessment and feedback?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It will be particularly relevant for\u00a0<strong>Degree Programme Directors<\/strong> and <strong>Module Leaders<\/strong>, whose input will help identify some key priorities for further action.<\/p>\n<p>It will include presentations from Rowan South (Education Officer, Newcastle Union Students Union), Graeme Redshaw-Boxwell (Learning and Teaching Development Service) and Sarah Graham (Combined Honours).<\/p>\n<p>To attend, please complete the<a href=\"https:\/\/forms.ncl.ac.uk\/view.php?id=499285\"> booking form<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you have any queries in the run up to the event, please contact <a href=\"mailto:susan.mclean@ncl.ac.uk\">susan.mclean@ncl.ac.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Assessment and feedback continue to be a source of student dissatisfaction across the sector.
