{"id":3403,"date":"2017-04-28T08:35:17","date_gmt":"2017-04-28T07:35:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/?p=3403"},"modified":"2017-11-24T08:50:40","modified_gmt":"2017-11-24T08:50:40","slug":"learning-and-teaching-conference-2017-reimagining-teaching-excellence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/2017\/04\/28\/learning-and-teaching-conference-2017-reimagining-teaching-excellence\/","title":{"rendered":"Learning and Teaching Conference 2017: Reimagining Teaching Excellence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In 2017 the Newcastle University annual Learning and Teaching Conference \u00a0took place on 27 March 2017.<\/p>\n<h1>Conference theme: Reimagining Teaching Excellence<\/h1>\n<p>Newcastle\u2019s commitment to excellent teaching is at the heart of our University mission, and is crucial to our aim of providing an educational experience that challenges and supports our students to fulfil their potential.\u00a0 At a time when external agencies are seeking to define this for us, it is more important than ever that we have a clear understanding of what we as an academic community understand by learninhe phrase \u2018teaching excellence\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Teaching excellence was therefore the focus of the 2017 Conference and the programme for the day provided an opportunity to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>hear an external view point on teaching excellence from keynote speaker Paul Blackmore &#8211;
