{"id":4164,"date":"2018-06-28T11:26:38","date_gmt":"2018-06-28T10:26:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/?p=4164"},"modified":"2018-06-28T14:16:46","modified_gmt":"2018-06-28T13:16:46","slug":"vice-chancellors-education-excellence-award-winners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/2018\/06\/28\/vice-chancellors-education-excellence-award-winners\/","title":{"rendered":"Vice Chancellor&#8217;s Education Excellence Award Winners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The winners of 2018 Vice Chancellor&#8217;s Education Excellence Awards have now been announced after careful consideration of a number of excellent submissions.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to<strong> Dr Alison Graham,<\/strong> School of Natural and Environmental Sciences, <strong>Dr Patrick Rosenkranz,<\/strong> School of Psychology and\u00a0 <strong>Dr Simon Tate<\/strong>, School of Geography, Politics and Sociology for their outstanding achievements which resulted in them winning an\u00a0 individual award.<\/p>\n<p>A valued addition for 2018 was the introduction of the team award. Congratulations to the <strong>School of Biomedical Sciences Professional Services Team<\/strong> who won this all new award for their exceptional achievements when dealing with new challenges.<\/p>\n<p>The winners have demonstrated a marked impact on the experience of students here at Newcastle University, with the panel commending the winners on a wide range of projects in which they have played an instrumental role.\u00a0<strong>Professor Suzanne Cholerton, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Education<\/strong> highlighted the excellent achievements of all of the winners:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The Vice-Chancellor\u2019s Education Excellence Awards celebrate outstanding contributions to our students\u2019 educational experience. The winners of the awards have demonstrated a sustained record of innovation and creativity in supporting students\u2019 learning and shown exceptional dedication and commitment to support their students. Congratulations to the award winners on this well-deserved recognition.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Among other achievements, the panel recognised the work\u00a0<strong>Dr Alison Graham, School of Natural and Environmental Sciences<\/strong> had undertaken to shape the University approach to Peer Mentoring through her role as Chair of the Peer Mentoring Steering Group.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4179\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4179\" style=\"width: 474px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/files\/2018\/06\/Alison-Graham-35-of-40-002.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4179 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/files\/2018\/06\/Alison-Graham-35-of-40-002-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"474\" height=\"316\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/files\/2018\/06\/Alison-Graham-35-of-40-002-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/files\/2018\/06\/Alison-Graham-35-of-40-002-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/files\/2018\/06\/Alison-Graham-35-of-40-002-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4179\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr Alison Graham, School of Natural and Environmental Sciences<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Dr Graham said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI am delighted to have received this prestigious award.\u00a0 In the time I have been at the University, I have always tried to find innovative ways to support students and deliver high quality teaching. \u00a0I have been lucky to work with some great colleagues who share my passion for developing teaching and learning opportunities for all students.\u00a0 I am honoured that the University has recognised my contribution in this way and I look forward to working with future generations of students.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The transformational impact that<strong> Dr Patrick Rosenkranz,\u00a0 School of Psychology<\/strong> had was highlighted by the panel, particularly in relation to the Psychology Employability Challenges. When notified about the award Dr Rosenkranz said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cPsychology can be best understood when applied to real-life situations. We ask students to use their psychological literacy to create and design initiatives for people in various life circumstances.
