The project considered a total of 66 forms from 19 different schools and included focus groups and interviews with individual students.<\/p>\n<h3>What did they find?<\/h3>\n<p>These are a few key findings and you can find full details in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/ltds\/assets\/documents\/Feedback_forms_project.pdf\">project report.<\/a><\/p>\n<h5>Form Design<\/h5>\n<p>Have clear, separate sections showing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strengths and areas for improvement<\/li>\n<li>Clear advice for future work<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Only use tick boxes for objective areas of the marking criteria, such as grammar. When tick boxes were used for subjective areas, such as argument, students found this unhelpful.<\/p>\n<p>Look at your feedback forms and consider whether these should be redesigned. Consult with the students in your school as part of the process.<\/p>\n<h5>Utilising the form<\/h5>\n<p>Type feedback, wherever possible.<\/p>\n<p>Introduce structured opportunities to help students understand:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>expectations of the marking criteria<\/li>\n<li>the ways in which this is reflected in the feedback sheet<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Discuss how you use marking sheets with your colleagues.
