{"id":4669,"date":"2019-01-14T10:29:55","date_gmt":"2019-01-14T10:29:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/?p=4669"},"modified":"2019-01-14T10:29:55","modified_gmt":"2019-01-14T10:29:55","slug":"learning-and-teaching-conference-keynote-speaker-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/2019\/01\/14\/learning-and-teaching-conference-keynote-speaker-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"Learning and Teaching Conference: Keynote Speaker Announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>The changing landscape of Higher Education,\u00a0 3 April 2019<\/h4>\n<p>We are pleased to announce that Chris Millward,\u00a0 Office for Students\u00a0 (OfS), will be a keynote speaker at this year&#8217;s Learning and Teaching Conference.<\/p>\n<p>Chris is the first Director for Fair Access and Participation in the Office for Students (OfS).\u00a0 His role is to ensure that universities and colleges are doing all they can to support underrepresented groups to access and succeed in higher education. Chris is also an executive member of the OfS board.<\/p>\n<p>In his previous role at HEFCE as Director (Policy), he led HEFCE\u2019s work on access and student success, learning and teaching, and higher level skills.\u00a0 This included delivery of the Teaching Excellence Framework, the National Student Survey and the National Collaborative Outreach Partnerships, as well as programmes to remove barriers to student success, to improve postgraduate progression and to develop degree apprenticeships.<\/p>\n<p>Chris has also worked at the universities of Warwick, Edinburgh and Durham before joining the Arts and Humanities Research Council as Head of Research Programmes in 2002 and HEFCE in 2006.<\/p>\n<p>The keynote will focus on:\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Access, success and progression in the new HE environment. <\/strong>We are looking forward to welcoming staff and students from across the University to this one day event celebrating learning and teaching.<\/p>\n<p>Full information about this event is available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/conferences.ncl.ac.uk\/learningandteaching\/\">conference website<\/a>\u00a0and staff and students can<a href=\"https:\/\/forms.ncl.ac.uk\/view.php?id=3136937\"> register here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you have any questions please get in touch with <a href=\"mailto:LTDS@ncl.ac.uk\">LTDS@ncl.ac.uk<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The changing landscape of Higher Education,\u00a0 3 April 2019 We are pleased to announce that Chris Millward,\u00a0 Office for Students\u00a0 (OfS), will be a keynote speaker at this year&#8217;s Learning and Teaching Conference.
