{"id":5229,"date":"2019-10-17T16:26:15","date_gmt":"2019-10-17T15:26:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/?p=5229"},"modified":"2021-09-16T17:01:30","modified_gmt":"2021-09-16T16:01:30","slug":"recent-updates-to-eportfolio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/2019\/10\/17\/recent-updates-to-eportfolio\/","title":{"rendered":"Recent updates to ePortfolio"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>To improve functionality, and in line with staff and student\nrequests, there have been some recent updates to the ePortfolio system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Graduate Framework<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The new Graduate Framework was embedded in ePortfolio for\nthe start of this academic year, and is now the default skill set for taught\nstudents. Students can link blog posts (reflections\/evidence) to attributes of\nthe Framework. Students can download their information as a PDF, including a\nsummary of number of posts by graduate attribute. The old Graduate Skills\nFramework is still available for those who have used it previously. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/files\/2019\/10\/portfolio_graduate_framework-1024x480.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5236\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/files\/2019\/10\/portfolio_graduate_framework-1024x480.png 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/files\/2019\/10\/portfolio_graduate_framework-300x141.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/files\/2019\/10\/portfolio_graduate_framework-768x360.png 768w, https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/files\/2019\/10\/portfolio_graduate_framework.png 1315w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Supervision Groups<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Supervision Groups are used to support projects, placements and other activities. Supervisors can communicate with groups of students, whilst students share reflections and&nbsp;updates with just the supervisors in a safe environment for non-collaborative work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The groups now support multiple supervisors following requests for this. In addition, the interfaces for Supervision Groups and sharing portfolio content have been simplified and made more efficient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Placement Support<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The Placements sub-system for ePortfolio supports access by external\nsupervisors as well as students and staff. It includes rubric-based assessment,\ncustom forms, automated form scheduling, and 3-way file sharing. This went live\nin 2018\/19 for PGCE programmes and additional programmes are using it in\n2019\/20. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\nhave been numerous enhancements based on requests from different placement schemes,\nincluding additional options for rubric-based assessment, CSV downloads of form\ndata, admin notes, and quick links to create record meetings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other Changes<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>There have been various other enhancements\/bug fixes in ePortfolio, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meeting records \u2013 now includes a\nduration (requested for Admin recording of meetings and avoiding overlapping\nevents).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Accessibility \u2013 you may notice some\nchanges, including darker colours for buttons in order to meet accessibility\ncolour contrast requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Various changes \u2013 to support switching\nto a new institutional data feed, which is more efficient and sustainable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you would like to know more about any of these changes, or\nwould like to know more about utilising new functionality, please contact <a href=\"mailto:sam.flowers@newcastle.ac.uk\">Sam Flowers in LTDS.<\/a> &nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To improve functionality, and in line with staff and student requests, there have been some recent updates to the ePortfolio system.
