{"id":5659,"date":"2020-06-23T08:45:02","date_gmt":"2020-06-23T07:45:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/?p=5659"},"modified":"2021-09-16T16:29:01","modified_gmt":"2021-09-16T15:29:01","slug":"success-at-the-international-e-assessment-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/2020\/06\/23\/success-at-the-international-e-assessment-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Success at the International e-Assessment awards"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Newcastle University Digital Exams Service has won the Best use of Summative Assessment Award at the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/eassessmentawards.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">International e-Assessment Awards 2020<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Delivering real improvements&nbsp;<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;winners were announced at an&nbsp;online&nbsp;awards ceremony&nbsp;on the 16 June. Finalists&nbsp;had been&nbsp;selected from a range of education sectors&nbsp;and the submissions included&nbsp;a number of&nbsp;exciting and&nbsp;creative projects&nbsp;and solutions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When announcing&nbsp;the award for the Best Use of Summative Assessment, the independent panel of judges praised the Digital Exams Service for demonstrating a high level of success, delivering at real scale and meeting a defined need. They also commented that the work on supporting accessibility was particularly noteworthy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Excellence and&nbsp;innovation&nbsp;<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Suzanne&nbsp;Cholerton, Pro-Vice-Chancellor,&nbsp;Education said:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u2018\u2019I am extremely pleased that the hard work and dedication of colleagues has been\u00a0recognised\u00a0with this international award which represents a commitment to excellence, innovation and collaboration across the University.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p><br>The Digital Exams Service has been successful in diversifying online exams with the introduction of digital written exams and\u00a0a\u00a0bring your own device\u00a0approach.\u00a0 This has enabled more authentic assessment and has enhanced the accessibility of exams for our students.<strong>\u2019\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Collaboration&nbsp;<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>The Digital Exams Service is&nbsp;founded on collaboration between academic and professional services colleagues in academic units across the institution, together with the Learning and Teaching Development Service,&nbsp;NUIT, and Exams and Awards Office.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The e-Assessment awards&nbsp;<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>The e-Assessment Awards&nbsp;programme&nbsp;holds a unique position, as it encompasses all sectors of education: from schools, through further and higher education to workplace training and professional exams.
