Therefore,\nthere is no need for you to book an induction session with us as part of a\nseparate programme timetable. Our induction materials will introduce students\nto the services and resources we offer, and equip them with essential\nliterature searching skills, including finding and accessing academic\ninformation via Library Search. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond induction (for example, for students working on dissertations or projects), we\u2018re developing a range of <strong>adaptable online learning resources<\/strong> suitable for embedding into Canvas, and will work with you to develop content tailored for your subject area that can be embedded within your modules. These are very well-suited to <strong>non-synchronous delivery<\/strong>, with opportunities for further support via Q&amp;A sessions, discussions etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Our offer includes structured learning activities, such as short\nCanvas modules, featuring video guides and activities to develop and assess\nunderstanding; online tutorials to enhance relevant graduate skills;\nself-directed skills auditing to help students plan for independent learning;\nand short videos to demonstrate search strategies for key information\nresources.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To find out more, including examples\nand lesson plans, please visit&nbsp;our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/library\/academics-and-researchers\/information-literacy\/flexible-learning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">flexible\nlearning<\/a>&nbsp;site&nbsp;and&nbsp;get\nin touch with your Liaison team to request content for your Canvas\nmodule.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Writing Development Centre<\/strong> has adapted its provision for 2020\/21 to fulfil our commitment to\ntailored, embedded teaching in the curriculum. We are creating a pool of\nbitesize, flexible and adaptable online resources and activities in a variety\nof media and formats, which can be embedded into Canvas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At your request, these can be combined\ninto bespoke \u2018bundles\u2019 to meet the particular requirements of your teaching and\nassessment, and your students\u2019 specific learning needs. These bundles offer a\nmore extended way to support your students\u2019 academic skills development over\ntime, including opportunities for structured independent learning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our provision bundles might be used to\nenhance study skills development across a core module, to support a particular\nassignment, help students adapt to flexible online learning or can also be used\nto augment Personal Tutoring and feedback. We invite commissions for creating\nbespoke resources or adapting existing ones to suit your discipline and stage\nof your students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our remit\nincludes: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Assessment and\nfeedback literacy<\/strong>\n(interpreting assignment genres and assessment criteria, and using feedback to\ndevelop), <\/li><li><strong>Academic Literacies<\/strong> (the process of\nwriting, developing discipline- level- and genre- appropriate academic\ndiscourse and epistemological practices) <\/li><li><strong>Learning to learn<\/strong> (including\nreflection, critical thinking, revision and exam technique, time management,\nlearning in lectures etc, reading and note-taking, independent learning and\nself-development). <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To find out\nmore, including examples of what we could offer, or to commission provision, please\ncontact us at <a href=\"mailto:wdc@ncl.ac.uk\">wdc@ncl.ac.uk<\/a> <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our teams are here to support and collaborate with you as you rethink your students\u2019 skills provision for the coming academic year.
