{"id":6107,"date":"2021-03-23T15:41:29","date_gmt":"2021-03-23T15:41:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/?p=6107"},"modified":"2021-09-17T15:35:48","modified_gmt":"2021-09-17T14:35:48","slug":"students-have-your-say-about-digital-exam-software","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/2021\/03\/23\/students-have-your-say-about-digital-exam-software\/","title":{"rendered":"Students: Have your say about digital exam software"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>At Newcastle University we are choosing&nbsp;<strong>new software&nbsp;for&nbsp;students&nbsp;to take digital exams<\/strong>.&nbsp;&nbsp;The&nbsp;exams will include auto-marked questions like multiple choice or fill in the blank,&nbsp;and&nbsp;written exams that you can take online.&nbsp;&nbsp;Students will be able to use the software&nbsp;on their own&nbsp;laptops, or&nbsp;use&nbsp;university computers.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The software&nbsp;we choose must be user friendly.&nbsp; That\u2019s why we\u2019re inviting students to volunteer for usability testing.&nbsp; Your input will be key in determining the software&nbsp;that&nbsp;students will use in the future at Newcastle.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What\u2019s usability testing and how can I get involved?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Complete&nbsp;the testing online any&nbsp;time that suits you, between&nbsp;Monday 26 April 2021 and Friday 21 May 2021&nbsp;<\/li><li>You need&nbsp;a computer connected to the&nbsp;internet&nbsp;<\/li><li>You will&nbsp;be given&nbsp;login details,&nbsp;and&nbsp;a series of tasks to&nbsp;do in each&nbsp;system&nbsp;<\/li><li>When you finish the tasks&nbsp;in each system, complete a&nbsp;survey about how user friendly&nbsp;it&nbsp;is&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>You may need to install some software&nbsp;on&nbsp;your computer.&nbsp; You can uninstall it&nbsp;when you\u2019ve finished&nbsp;testing&nbsp;<\/li><li>You will need to test up to 4&nbsp;software&nbsp;systems.&nbsp; Testing&nbsp;each one&nbsp;will take approximately 1 hour, and you can split&nbsp;the time&nbsp;up&nbsp;however you want,&nbsp;to fit your&nbsp;schedule&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why&nbsp;take&nbsp;part?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Develop your&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/careers\/graduateframework\/digitally-capable\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">digital capability<\/a>, one of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/careers\/graduateframework\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">attributes of the Graduate Framework<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>Great addition to your CV\/resume&nbsp;<\/li><li>Receive a Certificate of Participation&nbsp;<\/li><li>Have a say in the software&nbsp;the university uses for digital exams from September&nbsp;2021&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sign&nbsp;up&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/forms.ncl.ac.uk\/view.php?id=10987749\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Complete this form<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0by 12 noon on Wednesday 21\u00a0April 2021\u00a0to volunteer.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will receive further details when you sign up.&nbsp;
