Module teams can now allow their students to take practice auto-marked Inspera exams repeatedly, either by having students submit as many times as they wish, or by setting a defined number of retakes.\u00a0Please be aware there is <strong>no option to lock down an exam using Multiple Attempts<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Multiple Attempts can help students to learn rapidly and understand topics by allowing them to practice until answers are correct. This can also allow for a dynamic and effective learning experience.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students can:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Improve their understanding of the topic by practicing multiple times&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Increase their confidence by identifying and correcting mistakes&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Prepare more effectively for exams by identifying improvement areas&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Multiple Attempts can currently only be used with Inspera digital exams which are using <strong>automatically marked questions<\/strong>.\u00a0The feature can also be used with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/learning-and-teaching\/digital-technologies\/inspera\/content-creation-features\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>pre-defined feedback<\/strong><\/a>. Pre-defined feedback is recommended if using multiple attempts, as this allows students to improve their understanding of the exam content.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Setting up Multiple Attempts&nbsp;<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Within the Deliver Tab on Inspera, you will need to edit the exam settings and click \u2018<strong>Enable Multiple Attempts<\/strong>\u2019.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You will then be prompted to set a <strong>maximum number of attempts<\/strong>. If wishing students to have an unlimited number of attempts, click \u2018Unlimited Attempts\u2019.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Under \u2018<strong>Setting final result<\/strong>\u2019, choose the most appropriate option for your exam which will be applicable as part of your student feedback. Options are:&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Highest:<\/strong> The highest score achieved among all attempts will be the final result.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Average:<\/strong> The average score obtained across all attempts will be calculated and used as the final result.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Latest:<\/strong> The most recent score from the student\u2019s attempts will be the final result.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Student feedback when using Multiple Attempts&nbsp;<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When using Multiple Attempts, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/learning-and-teaching\/digital-technologies\/inspera\/inspera-feedback-release\/\">feedback <\/a>should be set to be released to students immediately after each test attempt.
