The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/accessibility-requirements-for-public-sector-websites-and-apps\">Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations<\/a>&nbsp;set out some legal requirements that we must meet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But digital accessibility is a complex topic and many colleagues have found it hard to understand what they need to do to ensure their teaching material is accessible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At our digital accessibility demo day, you can have a go at accessing university teaching material at a selection of stations simulating different access requirements and supports, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Screen reader<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Speech to text<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keyboard-only interaction<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Low vision<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Low mobility<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Magnification<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Canvas Ally<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ll have plenty of pointers to guidance and training opportunities to help you improve the accessibility of your material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/ltds\/\">LTDS<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/itservice\/\">NUIT<\/a>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/dig\/\">Disability Interest Group<\/a>&nbsp;will be there to offer support and answer any questions you may have about digital accessibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/files\/2025\/09\/Digital-Accessibility-Demo-Day-Image-2-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/files\/2025\/09\/Digital-Accessibility-Demo-Day-Image-2-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8341\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/files\/2025\/09\/Digital-Accessibility-Demo-Day-Image-2-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/files\/2025\/09\/Digital-Accessibility-Demo-Day-Image-2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/files\/2025\/09\/Digital-Accessibility-Demo-Day-Image-2-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/files\/2025\/09\/Digital-Accessibility-Demo-Day-Image-2-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/blogs.ncl.ac.uk\/ltdev\/files\/2025\/09\/Digital-Accessibility-Demo-Day-Image-2-2048x1536.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Colleagues at the Digital Accessibility Demo Day held in March 2025.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Time and location<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The event will take place on Wednesday 5th March 2025, in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/roomfinder.ncl.ac.uk\/room.php?r=ROM75A2F138-6D8F-4F61-8A4A-C3EF254726A8\">Boiler House<\/a>. We are hosting a drop in for <strong>colleagues from 10:30-12:00<\/strong> and for <strong>students from 12:30-14:00<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Boiler House is in the middle of campus, between the Armstrong Building and the Student Union.
