Somebody on LinkedIn is listed as being a business couch.\u00a0 I am certain he meant to say coach but he didn\u2019t, he said couch.\u00a0 I had a look at his public profile and below the project management and e-card implementations I see that he has been certified as a coach, and still… I can\u2019t get from my mind the utter appropriateness of naming someone \u2013 someone who says well done, pats you on the shoulder and supports you through change \u2013 a business couch.<\/p>\n
What kind of business couch would you want?\u00a0 An overstuffed purple velvet couch, or a firm yet luxurious chocolate leather couch, or a practical tweedy brown couch or a pale cream linen couch that the dog is not allowed on? I want a couch, somewhere comfortable and accepting that I can sit or lie on \u2013 or jump on.\u00a0 In my new job I have met many people who are happy to have met me and will support me in my attempts to spread the message that entrepreneurship is as naturally human as standing upright.\u00a0 I need those people.\u00a0 But I also want backing, I want authority.\u00a0 Someone in authority who says that what I say should be paid attention to; that means that I have a hat with tassels, a badge, I have the king\u2019s signet ring<\/p>\n
